Runner Spotlight - Februay 2017

Julian Rios

Being 57 hasn't slowed this guy down one bit.  Julian has been running since 1973 when he was in Jr. High.  He is married to Trine Rios and together they have two sons, Julian Jr. and Rodolfo.  He is also the proud grandfather to Mateo, his running partner.  His running resume is pretty impressive but he is the most humble guy you will ever know.  Julian is the first Laredoan to run the Boston Marathon.  In 1980 Julian ran the Boston Marathon in 3:39.  His Marathon PR is a 2:46 and his 1/2 Marathon PR is 1:09.  Julian till this day still holds the Laredo high school record for the fastest mile with the time of 4:19.  Julian, thanks for being a part of RUNStrong Laredo.  See you on the asphalt!
